How To Clean Your Washing Machine: Bicarbonate of Soda and Vinegar

March 2, 2024
Wondering how to clean a washing machine with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar? If you can’t get to the store in time, this is the next best thing.

You watch your clothes basically daily, and while there are no set guidelines as to how often you should wash, the daily accumulation of dirt, will make your washing machine a little less appealing and efficient. If you’re wondering how to clean a washing machine with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar, the best and easy way is to follow the simple steps listed below:

Here’s exactly how to clean a washing machine with bicarbonate soda and vinegar at home.

What you’ll need:

  • Basic dishwashing soap
  • Bicarbonate of Soda
  • A small bowl for mixing
  • Vinegar

Step 1

The first rule of thumb when mixing any concoction at home is to proceed with caution. Create a thick paste with the ingredients. 1/2 cup of bicarbonate of soda, 1 tablespoon of dishwashing soap, and vinegar. Mix until smooth.

Step 2

Pour the paste into the washing machine. Start running a cycle using only the mixture and hot water. Try practicing this method on a weekly basis to keep them clean and free of residue.

Step 3

When the cycle is finished, it is recommended that you use a microfiber cloth to wipe down the drum inside the washing machine.

Things to know

For a stronger paste, mix balanced parts of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda to scrub away hardened stains.
